In October 2024, a very strong tropical depression named "Trami (Philippine name: Christine)" struck the Philippines, causing significant flooding and landslides in various areas. As a result of this disaster, many families lost their homes and found it difficult to secure food, clean water, and shelter. Smiles Mobile Remittance quickly initiated relief efforts to support the affected communities in response to this serious situation.

Rapid Response to Affected Areas

The Smiles team collaborated with local governments in the Bicol region, one of the hardest-hit areas, and parts of Luzon Island to deliver emergency relief supplies. The distributed supplies included essentials such as rice, canned goods, instant noodles, clean drinking water, and hygiene products.

The volunteer team from Smiles Philippines overcame the difficulties of harsh weather and disrupted transportation to deliver supplies directly to families in remote areas that were not adequately receiving assistance. They are listening to the urgent voices of those affected and are continuing their activities to alleviate their anxieties as much as possible.

Smiles' Mission to Walk with the Community

For Smiles, this relief effort embodies the mission of "Sharing Smiles." We aspire not only to provide remittance services but to be partners who support users in difficult situations and their families.

As many Filipino workers in Japan worry about their families back home, Smiles plays a role as a bridge by providing direct support on the ground. Beyond economic support through remittances, we are assisting in the reconstruction of the community through physical aid.

Expanding the Circle of Support

Smiles Mobile Remittance will continue to monitor the recovery situation in the affected areas and will persist in considering the necessary support. We deeply appreciate the partner organizations that supported our recent activities and the users who consistently contribute to the community through our services.

We believe in the strength and resilience of the people of the Philippines. Smiles will continue to stand by those affected so that they can return to their original lives as soon as possible.

For those who wish to support their loved ones back home, they can quickly and safely send their thoughts through the Smiles Remittance App at any time.
