This holiday season, the most popular global mobile remittance service in Japan, Smiles Mobile Remittance, will implement a donation program to support children battling cancer through the organization "Cancer Warriors Foundation, Inc. (CWF)" based in the Philippines.

This donation program will run from November 1 to December 30, 2022, and for each new follower of the "Smiles Mobile Family – Philippines" Facebook fan page, 1 Philippine peso will be donated by Smiles to CWF.

CWF was established in 1990. The organization started from a "promise" made by a boy named James, who was 19 years old and fighting brain cancer. That promise was to ensure that every Filipino child suffering from cancer, especially those from impoverished and disadvantaged backgrounds, has an equal opportunity to overcome cancer and receive treatment.

All donations will be used to support providing cancer medications and services to families who cannot afford treatment.

According to research from the University of the Philippines, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that approximately 4,700 children are newly diagnosed with cancer in the Philippines each year. Of those 4,700, about 1,700 die from leukemia each year.
