Canada, Saskatchewan - Digital Wallet Canada (Smiles Mobile Remittance Canada - via Philippines) participated as a sponsor of the 'Taste of the Philippines' event held at the Holy Rosary Cathedral in Saskatchewan, Canada on September 10, 2022.
The 'Taste of the Philippines' event started in 2018 and was held annually until the pandemic outbreak in 2020. After a two-year hiatus, it finally resumed this year.
The event showcased various Filipino dishes and delicacies that many Filipinos residing in Canada long for. Additionally, numerous stalls were set up selling various Filipino dishes, street food, and handmade products.
Various elements of Filipino culture were shared with the community: a parade with local talents, including contestants from local beauty contests, musicians, Filipiniana dancers, and local bands.
This event became an ideal way for Smiles Canada to connect deeply with the Filipino community in Canada. Many Filipinos from Saskatchewan and neighboring provinces gathered to enjoy, mingle, and savor the tastes of their homeland.
The 'Taste of the Philippines' event also featured local Filipino entrepreneurs who offered products catering to the needs of Filipinos, including restaurants and authentic shops.
Following the event's great success, Smiles Mobile Remittance Canada - Philippines plans to participate again next year to strengthen its ties with the Filipino-Canadian community.
