Tokyo, Japan – Smiles Mobile Remittance Indonesia, owned and operated by Digital Wallet Co., launched a Ramadan campaign titled "30 days of Ramadan Blessings with Smiles Year One" from March 21 to April 21, 2023, with the support of BRI Bank, one of Indonesia's largest banks. The purpose of this campaign was to spread happiness during the holy month of Ramadan and to aid the less fortunate and orphanages in Indonesia.

During the campaign period, for each remittance sent from Japan to Indonesia, Smiles donated 10 points (equivalent to 10 yen) to orphanages. As a result, approximately 200,000 yen in donations were collected through Smiles' customers, enabling the provision of essentials such as rice, cooking oil, and instant noodles to orphanages and families in need. Additionally, over 175,000 yen in extra donations were made by Digital Wallet Co. to support orphanages.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and break their fast with a meal called Iftar. Based on the Islamic teaching that "whoever gives food to a fasting person to break their fast will receive the same reward without reducing the reward of the fasting person," Smiles Indonesia aimed to break the fast with the less fortunate and people in orphanages in Indonesia and to donate care packages.

As a specific activity, the Smiles Indonesia team visited two orphanages in Lombok Island, four orphanages in Solo, and three households in need, distributing essentials and sharing meals with the children.

The team visited the Baitul Amin Ampenan orphanage in Lombok Island on April 4, 2023, and the Asal Mula Gerung orphanage on April 7. Additionally, on April 17, they toured Lombok Island, distributing essentials to those in need. In Solo, they visited Griya Yatim & Dhuafa, Gunungan orphanage, Yayasan Nur Maghfiroh orphanage, and PAKYM orphanage.

In addition to activities at orphanages, Smiles Indonesia visited three impoverished households to deliver supplies such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, and bread.

Overall, this campaign received very positive feedback. The team wishes to continue this campaign next year to keep supporting the strengthening of impoverished communities in Indonesia.
