From Jan. 17, 2026, to Jan. 31, 2026, Smiles Mobile Remittance Nepal stood alongside the Nepali community this January to celebrate Sonam Lhosar 2026.

As a dedicated Event Partner, Smiles joined the Nepal Tamang Samaj Japan for a three-city tour, honoring the rich cultural heritage and New Year traditions of the Tamang people.

A tour of tradition and community

The celebration spanned three consecutive weekends, bringing a piece of home to Nepalis living across Japan:

• Jan 17 (Gunma): Hosted by the Kita Kanto Committee.

• Jan 24 (Sendai): Hosted by the Tohoku Committee.

• Jan 31 (Nagoya): Hosted by the Chubu Mie Committee.

Nepali cultural performances

The highlights of the tour were the performances by two of Nepal’s most beloved artists, who traveled from Nepal specifically to grace these stages:

• Bishwo Dong: The prominent folk singer and cultural leader captivated the crowds with his deep-rooted Tamang musical compositions.

• Jitu Lopchan: The award-winning singer (Himalayan International Award 2022) brought the house down with her universal modern and folk hits.

Thousands of participants filled the venues, creating a sea of traditional attire, dance, and music that echoed the spirit of the Himalaya
