As Digital Wallet Group enters its second decade, 2025 has been a year of evolution and sharing more smiles worldwide. From opening an office in the Philippines to expanding into North America, the group continues to bridge the gap between financial technology and human connection. Our mission remains clear: to leverage AI and fintech to create a more peaceful, sustainable, and inclusive society for global citizens.
Expanding global connectivity and meaningful relationships
2025 marked an era of global expansion for Digital Wallet Group. In July, the company and Philippine National Bank (PNB) started a global alliance to revolutionize fintech services for Filipinos worldwide, simplifying financial access for migrant workers. Furthermore, during the year-end Philippine Festival, CEO Eiji Miyakawa officially announced the launch of Smiles Mobile Remittance in the United States, a major step in connecting the global diaspora across Asia, North America and Europe.
A new home for innovation in the Philippines
A significant physical milestone was achieved in September with the grand opening of the Smiles Mobile Remittance office building in Plaridel, Bulacan. This modern five-story facility is more than just an office; it represents DWG’s commitment to providing livelihood and purpose to the local youth. The inauguration, attended by local government officials and banking partners, symbolizes the group’s transition from a startup to a permanent global infrastructure.
Innovation in inbound tourism: Tax Refund Japan
In response to the evolving needs of the international community, Digital Wallet Group launched the "TAX REFUND JAPAN" program in April 2025. This project was developed to support the reform of the tax exemption system for inbound tourists, providing a digital fintech solution that simplifies the refund process. By leveraging the company's remittance infrastructure, the service offers a seamless and more convenient way for visitors to manage their tax refunds.
Continuing the “Share Smiles” tradition
CSR remains the heartbeat of the company. For the third consecutive year, Smiles Mobile Remittance served as the Major Sponsor for the Philippine Festival Tokyo 2025. Beyond financial support, the team hosted the "Smiles Stage," featuring cultural performances and interactive community activities.
Around the same time, the One Million Smiles Program was running to, yet again, aid 100 more impoverished families in the Philippines by contributing 100 care packages to them for the holiday season.
Empowering the next generation
With the expansion of the Philippines team and the launch of new services, CEO Eiji Miyakawa emphasized the group's focus on youth empowerment. By engaging young members in social contribution projects, DWG continues to fulfill its mission of maintaining peace and sustainability within the international community.
Reflecting on the milestones of 2025, it is clear that Digital Wallet Group is no longer just a minor remittance service provider. It is becoming a major part of global infrastructure. By combining strategic international growth with commitment to community support, the company has solidified its foundation for the next 100 years and onward.
As we look toward 2026, the "Digital Wallet Family" remains dedicated to our core philosophy of transparency, innovation and care, continuing to “Share Smiles” across borders and change lives through the power of technology.
